About

A small software company in Amman.

Mayaal was founded in 2014 to build software for regional clients — Smart TV applications, mobile apps, websites and the platforms behind them. Thirty-five projects later, that is still exactly what it does.

What Mayaal is

A small shop, deliberately. It works on a handful of projects at a time, which means clients get direct access to the people building their product rather than an account layer in between.

The work has always spanned screens rather than specialising in one. A recipe app on Samsung televisions and a fleet-tracking app on phones look like different businesses, but they turn out to share the same underlying problem: a content or data backend that has to serve several front ends without any of them going stale.

That is the thread through the portfolio — products that exist on more than one surface, held together by something built to be handed over and run by somebody else.

What we build

Four kinds of product.

Each of these has shipped more than once, which is the only claim worth making about a capability.

Smart TV applications

Ten of them, on Samsung Tizen and the Orsay SDK. One came pre-installed on new Samsung televisions across the Middle East and reached 300,000 users in 19 countries. Remote-first navigation, offline content, store certification.

Mobile applications

Twenty projects, eight of them live on Google Play and the App Store right now. Flutter for one codebase across both platforms, plus everything around it — push, offline state, live tracking, store submission.

Websites & web platforms

From company sites to multi-sided platforms: a homework marketplace for students, teachers and bookshops; a trades directory with a build-cost calculator; a city directory with merchant ordering built in.

VAS platform software

Messaging engines, subscriber portals and admin tooling, built for VAS companies to run as their own. Mayaal builds and delivers the platform; the client operates it and holds their own carrier relationships.

How we work

Three habits worth knowing about.

Built to be handed over

Anything an operator would reasonably want to change should be changeable by them. A client who has to phone the developer to edit a menu item does not have a working product, so every build ships with an admin panel and documentation.

One backend, several screens

Where a product lives on more than one surface, the content or data sits in one place and every front end reads from it. That is why the recipe catalogue on a TV app and the one in its mobile edition never drift apart.

Honest about scope

Several projects here were implementations of a client's own design rather than end-to-end builds, and their project pages say so. The same directness applies to estimates — including when the answer is that you don't need us.

If what you're building sits anywhere near a television, a phone, a browser or the platform behind them, there's a good chance it's been built here before.
